About
Emily is a Perth-based Flutist and musician who has performed in musicals, marching bands, orchestras, choirs, and jazz big bands, Emily enjoys making music and desires to spend her life creating beautiful music with like-minded individuals, with the life goal of reaching out to the wider community to bring the joy of music into the lives of those who may not previously receive this gift. Emily is a life-devoted Christian and this belief system drives her music and her dream to take music to all parts of the world.
In recent years Emily has performed nationally, competing on jazz flute in Mount Gambier, and performing in a national level flute choir at the Sydney Conservatoire of Music. In March of 2021, Emily performed her debut in the musical world in a local production of Oliver! as the first reed player. Over many years Emily was a part of the Gosnells ANZAC day marching band as well as the music for the dawn service.
Emily is always eager to learn as well as perform and loves attending masterclasses, and even masterclasses on instruments other than the flute. As she says that you can learn so much from musicians regardless of their instrument, as music is music. For this same reason, Emily hopes to perform in all styles of music to bridge the perceived gap between the different genres. Another goal of Emily’s is to learn multiple instruments to once again bring the notion that music is music.
Emily is passionate about Baroque historically informed performance practice and is currently researching the Baroque flute, hoping to learn the instrument and specialise in Baroque flute on an international scale.
